Is Your Wardrobe Secretly Influencing Your Mood?
Your Clothes and Your Mind are connected! Sounds strange to many of us. But what if it is true?
Little hint – The world of Fashion Psychology exists! Want to get rid of that curiosity now?
So without further ado, let’s get on with the article and trust us, you will never take your clothes for granted anymore.

Trends And #FOMO
The trend is a ubiquitous concept. But what’s the use of it? Trends give you an excuse to express your own identity and explore your interests due to their unlimited options. It is nothing but a mere opportunity to tell the world that you are unique in your way.
Fashion trends are a way to entertain Gen Z’s mind. They always like to try new things and explore their options before getting bored with one thing and moving on to another. Hence, the rapid and constant evolution of Trends or Fads takes place.

Currently, in the fashion world, we see sheer ruling the ramp all over. Sheer trend not only exudes boldness, it oozes adventure and confidence.
We saw many celebrities indulging in ‘Barbiecore’ last year. Barbiecore is fun, vibrant, colourful, bold and all about being confident about yourself. However, what made all these celebrities unique was the slight touch they added to this trend.
One of the disadvantages of trends is the peer pressure people create on those who might not want to partake in this “custom”. By participating in every trend, people feel a sense of accomplishment.
We are so surrounded by trends that it has managed to instil itself in every part of our lives, to the extent that we have started fearing developing FOMO on it.
Splash Of Colors and Its Effects
Since last year, we have seen people placing too much importance on Color palettes in the Fashion and Beauty Industry. The roots of this are, seemingly, from Korea, where salons try shades of color to finalize what color scheme suits your complexion. It is because Color Theory is a psychological concept which states that different colours evoke certain feelings in a human being. A very popular example is the colour Red being associated with Love, Passion and Danger. Blue is a soothing colour which represents serenity, wisdom, inspiration and stability. Purple was a regal choice in the olden days and hence portrays Royalty. White is a color for Peace.
This idea of colour being connected with emotions is what gave birth to this Dopamine Trend, which came to be seen on the runways, especially after the COVID Period. The use of vibrant colours like Neon Green, Pink, Blue, etc, was seen on the runways a lot.

Can Fashion make you feel powerful?
Fashion, particularly, does not just protect your body from harsh weather conditions. It means what it makes you feel.
We all have heard about the term ‘Power Dressing’. Power dressing means exactly what it is called; Dressing up in a way which makes you feel Powerful. Certain dresses give you a boost of confidence and enhance your credibility at work.
Aren’t we all aware of the 1920s Golden Era of Coco Chanel, who brought trademark suits for women and popularized pants? Her style focused on simplicity and elegance, revolutionizing the industry.
Thierry Mugler is another brilliant, unconventional yet remarkable man who changed the women’s fashion industry altogether. He brought dramatic padded shoulders and powerful, form-fitted bodysuits with a theatrical approach to the haute couture. His designs are the epitome of Power Dressing.
Power dressing does not limit itself to just strong silhouettes or formal attire. The art of conveying authority and competence through clothes and accessories is what Power Dressing is all about.
Is Less the New More?
Don’t we all get confused when we have 1000 options, but we can only wear 1?
So, isn’t it simpler to keep just fewer things in your wardrobe and avoid confusion?
However, what if we tell you that minimalism is not about having fewer things around you? It is about living with the right and needful things.
Minimalistic fashion tells you to have a ‘Capsule wardrobe’. A capsule wardrobe is keeping just limited, staple clothes and accessories which are of the right value to you and bring joy to you.
But does it mean to keep the wardrobe monotonous? No. Personal style varies from person to person. So, make it just how YOU like it.
Minimalist fashion is a much more sustainable approach which promotes ethical production, responsible sourcing, waste reduction and conscious consumption.
A major advantage of Minimalist fashion is that it is Mental Health friendly.
Limited items give you less confusion and more mental clarity, remove the stress of decisions, and allow you to be prepared in an instant.
So, pick your staple outfit and get ready in a minute because of your minimalist wardrobe!
The Dramatic Side of Fashion - Maximalism
The Queen of Maximalist Fashion – Iris Apfel, who we lost recently, believed in the mantra of More is never Less. According to her, the more you experiment with your style, the more you get to know about yourself.

An article from Jumpstart says, its emergence is from the Harajuku district of Japan, for whom, Maximalism is experimental, fun, and eye-catching with bold patterns, huge oversized accessories and bright colours. It allows you to be your canvas as well as your artist. It is a means of self-expression and individuality. People who indulge in maximalist fashion take pride in their creativity.
The Psychology Behind Uniforms

We all often wonder how boring uniforms are, right? Then, why do we wear it? Employee Psychology is a thing! According to Employee Psychology, employees tend to work more effectively due wearing proper, professional attire. Uniforms increase your productivity level and ignite a sense of unity in you, which is why you work in sync with your team.
If you want to promote your business/institution, keeping a uniform for your staff or students is a great idea. The logo on your uniform, and the certain colours, patterns or designs of your uniform are great tools for branding as well as creating a good professional corporate image.
Conclusion
Fashion Psychology is simply the intersection of fashion and Mind. The way you decide what to wear for the day, the same way, your clothes decide what kind of day you will be having later. Most people just relate fashion to clothes and deem it unimportant to think about. What we don’t realize is how much we think about it subconsciously and let it affect our lives. Fashion is so much more than clothes, and it is high time we start giving it its importance!
